Prof. Dr. Omer Faruk YILMAZ

I was born on November 9 in 1949, Samsun.

Between 1955-1960 I went to Tekkeköy Primary School in Samsun and secondary school I started in Giresun 1960 and finished in Trabzon 1966.

I graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine (1966-1973). Then I specialized as an eye doctor again at Hacettepe University between 1973-1977.

As a private I finished my short term military service in 1975. From 1978 till August of 1984 at the Dusseldorf University Duisburg Academical Hospital I worked as a chief assistant of Prof. Holland. At this hospital I made 6.000 eye surgeries.

While I was working in Germany I passed the exam of the Cerrahpaşa University in Turkey and became a associate professor. In August of 1984 I returned to Turkey and worked free at my clinic for two years.

In 1986 I was assigned to the Health Ministry Beyoğlu Education and Research Hospital
as a chief ant I worked there till 1995. After that date I studied between 1995 and 1998 to become a professor at the 100.Year University Eye Department and won the Professor degree on Eye Disorders.

In 1996 I built Turkey’s first eye hospital World Eye Centers with a 50 % percent of participation and in 1998 I alienated my all participation then I was appointed as the head doctor and the eye disorders clinic chief to the Health Ministry Beyoğlu Education and Research Hospital.

As I still work on the same duty, I also have my own clinic. I have been married since 1973 and have 2 daughters, 1 son. I’m able to speak English and German Language.

My wife is a dietician. My former daughter is diplomaed from Michigan State University and works on her own. And the latter is diplomaed from London Guildhall University and works on her own too.
